Volunteer

HCF is an all-volunteer organization.  We have NO paid staff. All of the work and programs described on this site are administered and run by a small group of dedicated volunteers who love cats and want to improve the lives of all cats, not just those who are adoptable.  In order to continue our work, we need more volunteers. You will be trained and mentored by experienced volunteers and never asked to do anything you are not comfortable doing. Please consider one of the following roles:

  • Trapping: Transporting, setting up, and monitoring humane traps at colonies where HCF is administering TNR programs.
  • Transporting: Transporting trapped cats to vet appointments, HQHV clinics, and back to their colonies - please note that cats must be transported inside an enclosed vehicle for their safety - if you have an  SUV, station wagon, truck with a cap, van, or car that you are willing to place traps in, please consider helping us with this vital role.
  • Fostering: Do you have room in your heart and home for a kitty waiting for his "forever family"? If so, please consider fostering an HCF cat or kitten. Foster homes allow cats to live in a home setting which improves their socialization and allows us to learn more about their personality.  HCF will provide you with all the needed supplies and medical care for your foster kitty.
  • Administrative Help: Assist with mailings, telephone follow-ups, thank you notes, and other office projects.
  • HQHV Clinics: Provide much-needed assistance at our clinics - there are many roles you can be trained on such as intake, pre-op preparation of cats, post-op care, monitoring and discharge.
  • Visiting our Wiscoy "Cat in Residence": This is a fun and easy way to help. Provide daily play and interaction, make sure there are no health issues, and pick up applications that have come in.
  • Public Relations: Help HCF raise awareness of our programs by staffing a table at various local events such as The Dog Jog and the PAWS Pet Extravaganza.

The short video below talks about the many voIunteer activities at HCF. If you are interested in volunteering, please email us your contact information (name, phone, best time to call) and we will get back to you with more information.
